Eric Council Jr. pleaded not guilty to federal charge of hacking social media account

ATHENS, Ala. (WAFF) – A man from Athens Securities and Exchange Commission accused of hacking into X (Twitter) account He did not admit his guilt.

Eric Council Jr. appeared in federal court in Washington, DC, on Friday and entered his plea.

The SEC is accused of making a post that caused the price of Bitcoin to skyrocket.

Council was arrested two weeks ago but was released into the custody of his family on $5,000 bail.

Although initially heard in Northern Alabama District Court, Council’s case will be heard in Washington, D.C., where the charges originated.
