Name of BJP Leader Revealed in Rape Case Amid Scandal

Police have registered a rape case against six people, including former BJP Minority Morcha city chief Anees Ansari, officials said on Friday.

The FIR lodged at Baradari police station was based on a complaint from a 32-year-old woman who reached out to the chief minister through a social media post. This development comes after Ansari resigned from his post on November 8 after several audio clips allegedly containing suggestive conversations between him and a woman surfaced on social media. Ansari had resigned by submitting his resignation to BJP city unit chief Adhir Saxena.

The FIR lists Anees Ansari, his son Shahnawaz, Javed alias Bablu, Javed Media, Faizal and an unidentified person as accused, Senior Police Inspector Anurag Arya said on Friday. Baradari police station SHO Amit Pandey confirmed that an FIR was lodged following the woman’s accusation.

SHO Amit Pandey clarified that Ansari had earlier filed a complaint with the police on October 13, accusing the woman of attempting extortion through honey trap. The woman now alleges that Ansari’s friends threatened and assaulted her, adding several accusations against him, including rape.
