ST. JOHNSBURY, Va. (WCAX) – A Vermont inmate was arrested by police in St. He faces new charges after police say he assaulted two guards at Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.

Vermont State Police say Joseph Heim, 48, of Fayston, tried to take a set of keys from corrections officers Thursday and fought with them while he was in the hospital following a medical incident. They said he was eventually restrained and the officers were not injured.

Heim was arrested earlier this week on drug charges and violation of conditions in a June case. He was arrested in connection with detonating an explosive device that injured himself and another person.
