Police have arrested nine people in connection with a brutal stabbing and brawl at Hoppers Crossing in Melbourne’s south-west

Victoria Police have arrested nine people following a brutal stabbing and brawl in Melbourne’s south-west overnight that left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

Emergency services attended Mossfiel Drive in Hoppers Pass at around 3.40am on Saturday morning following reports of a stabbing.

A 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries at the scene.

The man was taken to hospital for further treatment and his condition is stated to be critical but stable.

Nine people were arrested at the scene and remain in custody awaiting interviews with detectives.

Police are also reportedly investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old boy attended a hospital in Werribee with suspected stab wounds at around 4am.

The teenager arrived at the hospital with serious injuries in a black Mazda CX9.

Police are investigating where the second stabbing occurred and whether the two incidents are related.

Investigations are ongoing into both incidents, where police believe they were targeted at this stage.
