Lucy Letby’s hospital lists 15 reasons why ‘baby killer’ is innocent

A document released this week by the Thirwall Inquiry by Stephen Cross, the hospital’s director of corporate and legal affairs, also showed that the Countess of Chester reluctantly contacted the police in 2017.

“In our view, there is no evidence that would justify a criminal investigation,” he wrote. “However, in the spirit of openness and transparency, the matter is being reported to the police, given that some consultant paediatricians were unhappy with the very extensive investigations and investigations carried out.

“12 of the deaths were subjected to autopsy, but no suspicious findings were found.

“Secondary review of the four deaths by pathologists at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital did not raise any concerns about unnatural causes of death.”

This week, Dr. Stephen Brearey gave evidence at the Thirlwall Inquiry and was asked about Ms Powell’s list of reasons. Dr Brearey was one of the first doctors to raise concerns about Letby and called for him to be removed from the unit.
