Shooting in Austin, Chicago: CPD says one person is dead and a food vendor with a Concealed Carry License is injured in the 300 block of South Central Avenue

CHICAGO (Wales) — A food vendor with a Concealed Carry License shot and killed a man who pulled a gun on him Friday night, Chicago police said.

Police said the attack happened just before 9 p.m. in the 300 block of South Central Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood.

Police said a 30-year-old man approached a 35-year-old man, a food vendor, and a brief struggle ensued.

Police said the 30-year-old man pulled out a gun, and the 35-year-old CCL owner also pulled out a gun.

Mutual gunshots were heard and the 30-year-old man, who had multiple bullet wounds in his body, was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 35-year-old man was shot in the right arm and was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Police stated that the incident was investigated as a robbery attempt.

Police said two firearms were found at the scene and District Four detectives were investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the attack.
