Minor Girl Kidnapped, Gang Raped, Two People Caught in Janani Express Ambulance in MP Mauganj

According to police, a 16-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two men in a moving ambulance in Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district on Monday (November 25).

According to news agency IANS, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Hanumana police station, about 30 km away from Mauganj district headquarters. Hanumana tehsil, which is part of the newly formed Mauganj district, shares its border with Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the victim, two men kidnapped her and forced her into the Janani Express Ambulance where she was gang-raped. Ambulance, also known as “108 Ambulance”, is a service operated by the state government under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

It is designed to provide emergency transportation to pregnant mothers, sick babies and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in rural Madhya Pradesh. The suspects, identified as ambulance driver Virendra Chaturvedi and his friend Rajesh Kewat, were arrested on Wednesday night, police said.

Both the accused are residents of Naigarhi tehsil in Mauganj district, which is around 50 km from Hanumana tehsil, the place where the incident in question allegedly took place.

“The victim lodged an FIR on November 25, alleging that she was gang-raped. Medical test confirmed the rape and a search was launched. Both the accused were arrested from Nagari on Wednesday,” Mauganj Superintendent of Police Sarna Thakur said. SP). Detailed information about the case is awaited.
