BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today warned that there is a possibility of a return of fascism due to subversive activities and divisions among those who contributed to the success of the student-led uprising.

While speaking in an exchange, the BNP leader said, “Fascism has been defeated, but it can return at any time. We should not open this path. Unfortunately, we are engaged in activities that create a significant chance for its return.” he said. program at Jatiya Press Club.

Jatiya Kobita Parishad organized the event titled “Role of writers and artists in revision”.

The BNP leader also said that fascist forces are trying to create a terrible situation in Bangladesh in a calculated manner. “But why are those of us who have struggled now creating divisions? We are afraid when we hear contradictory statements from different places. There are efforts to move the country in a different direction through various street actions.”

Fakhrul said the nation must now unite around a single goal: to build a truly democratic state by re-establishing the parliament after implementing necessary reforms.

“In general, I would like to say that we all should not create divisions. We should move forward by keeping the unity intact and using the space (created by the mass rise). It is our misfortune that even after 53 years of independence, we have not been able to achieve a peaceful transfer of power,” he said.

He also called on people from all walks of life, including writers, artists and intellectuals, to play a responsible role in inspiring the nation to achieve the desired goal.

Fakhrul said writers and artists have long played a vital role in reshaping the state. “But this was not evident during the movement against Hasina’s fascist regime.”

He added that building a democratic Bangladesh and fostering a democratic culture through necessary reforms is a challenging task. “We must achieve this through the joint efforts of people from all walks of life.”
