Man arrested on suspicion of attempted rape in Droitwich

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to rape a woman in Droitwich.

The attack took place at around 22:40 GMT on Monday, when a 51-year-old woman was followed by a man along Ombersley Road.

Police said the man grabbed the woman and tried to pull her clothes.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may be able to assist the investigation.

Det Insp Sharon Wallace-Rathmel said: “It is believed that a slim-bodied, broad-shouldered white man emerged from an alley off Wey Close onto Ombersley Road at the time of the incident and we would like to speak to anyone reporting this incident who may have seen him, dark-coloured clothing.” He was wearing it and was covering his face.

“Regular patrols continue to be carried out in the area and I would encourage anyone concerned to speak to an officer.”
