PIL in Allahabad HC Seeks CBI Probe into Sambhal Violence, SIT to Probe Alleged Involvement of UP Government and Officials

A. Public Interest Litigation (PIL) defense filed Allahabad High Court A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, headed by a retired HC judge, is being sought into the alleged involvement of the Uttar Pradesh government’s administrative officers, including the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP), in the violence. It broke out in Sambhal earlier this week.

  • It shall constitute a committee comprising officers of any Central investigating agency not falling under the administrative jurisdiction of the State of Uttar Pradesh to investigate the role and negligence of the State Government and its administrative officers in the incident and submit its report within a specified time. This is a specific time frame provided by the Hon’ble Court.

For those who don’t know, violence broke out in the Sambhal area after a team led by a lawyer commissioner inspected the Mughal-era Jama Mosque. orders of the local court.
