Man accused of multiple robberies, most recently at a Nashville Metro restaurant

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man is facing several charges in connection with multiple robberies in Nashville, where he is accused of using the same methods, according to an arrest report.

The arrest report states that on Nov. 24, Shaquan Mays, 29, walked into a Subway restaurant in the 300 block of West Trinity Lane and demanded cookies.

Mays allegedly produced cash for the cashier to open the safe. Police said when the safe was opened, Mays reached into the safe and took about $250 in cash from it.

The cashier tried to stop him from taking more money, but eventually let go when Mays withdrew the money from him. Police said the cashier told officers they were afraid to continue blocking Mays from getting more money because they didn’t know how he would react.

Police added that there were approximately eight similar incidents in which Mays used the same robbery method to take money from a safe at a business. “The defendant’s power has increased recently when he encountered resistance from the cashiers,” the arrest report states.

Detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department were able to confirm Mays as the suspect based on physical description and tattoos. Police said he normally wears skeleton-bone style gloves but recently changed his outfit.

Mays was seen wearing the same outfit in video surveillance footage of the robberies, and detectives found him wearing the same outfit on open source media platforms.

He faces multiple burglary and burglary charges.
