Hamilton police arrest man wanted for violent sexual assaults – CP24

Hamilton Police They arrested the man they said was responsible for two violent sexual assaults that occurred in the city’s West Mountain in 2022 and 2023.

Police said the first attack occurred on the morning of July 13, 2022, in the area of ​​Upper Paradise and Donnici Drive.

Police said a woman was dragged from the road she was walking on, gagged and her wrists were tied behind her back. He was attacked, but the attacker was blocked by people walking in the area.

A year later, on Aug. 7, 2023, police say a 74-year-old woman was attacked while sleeping in her West Mountain home. They say a man attacked her for more than an hour before leaving.

Police said forensic evidence linked both attacks to the same man in January this year.

Police said the suspect was found living in the United States and was later extradited to Canada.

Leikeze Cheruiyot, 22, currently faces six charges; these include two counts of forcible confinement, aggravated assault and sexual assault, and breaking and entering with intent to commit sexual assault.
