Allowing customers to license the wireless network protocol and software stack

NeoCortec now allows customers to license the NeoMesh wireless networking protocol and software stack.

“Our main focus continues to be the production and sale of our ultra-low-power NeoMesh wireless sensor modules,” says Thomas Steen Halkier, CEO of NeoCortec. “However, by offering a licensing model for our NeoMesh software stack, our customers can implement our software into their designs in specific applications.” “We will provide comprehensive technical support to help implement our software so they can gain the benefits of NeoMesh.”

The wireless network protocol and software stack supports many different sensor types and applications and a wide range of chipsets, including chipsets from Texas Instruments, Nordic Semiconductor, Silicon Labs, STMicroelectronics, and most recently Semtech. It is optimized for ultra-low power operation, focusing on networks with large numbers of nodes. In the software protocol, data packets can be aggregated, reducing power consumption per packet carried or allowing more packets to be delivered using the same overall power budget. The NeoMesh network does not require any powered routers or repeaters and runs on small AA batteries for many years. The software also includes commands that enhance network monitoring capabilities, providing a clear and simple overview of network parameters and battery status. It is particularly suitable for wireless sensor and actuator network deployments where devices must send and receive small data packets infrequently but with high reliability.

Unlike many other mesh networking technologies, NeoMesh is dynamic and scalable; It supports thousands of nodes with minimal limitations on network size or depth. It also provides ‘self-healing’ capability, allowing the system to automatically reroute signals in the event of a node failure.
