Foreign fighters participating in terrorist attacks in Aleppo and Idlib provinces — Syrian army – World

TUNISIA, 29 November. /TASS/. In a statement published on the official page of the Ministry of Defense, the General Command of the Syrian army said that in Syria’s Aleppo and Idlib provinces, the government army continues to repel attacks by the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia) and large foreign militant groups. On Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, which is known as extremist in Russia).

“Our armed forces, operating on the fronts around Aleppo and Idlib, continue to repel the major offensive of armed terrorist formations affiliated with the so-called Nusra Front, which use a variety of heavy weapons, medium weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles in their attacks and rely on major foreign terrorist groups,” the article reads.

The General Command of the Syrian Armed Forces warned that “terrorist organizations are spreading misleading information, news and videos on their platforms aimed at intimidating citizens” and called for the news of the events to be trusted in the state-run Syrian media.

On 28 November, the Syrian Armed Forces command said that on the morning of 27 November, the northern extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra carried out “a large-scale attack on a broad front”. According to the statement, terrorists tried to hit “villages, towns and military facilities protected by the Syrian army” and continued to attack government forces’ positions. Later, Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that Syrian army units launched a counter-attack against the positions of the militants, who captured more than 20 settlements in the north and west of the city of Aleppo.
