Lancaster-Lebanon League Division 1 All-Star Football Team, 2024

Editor’s note: This is the first of five stories about the Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star Football Team. There will be Episode 2 tomorrow.

Wilson senior quarterback Madyx Gruber was named receiver of the year and shared the receiver of the year award with Manheim Township, who edged out Declan Clancy in the voting of the Lancaster-Lebanon League football coaches.

Gruber guided the Bulldogs to the Division 1 title with a 6-0 record and to the District 3 Class 6A finals, where they lost to Harrisburg 42-14.

Wilson finished the season 11-2 and placed five more players on the LL Division 1 first team.

Junior running back Correll Akings, sophomore tight end Mike Glover and senior guard Derek Reiniger were selected on offense, and Gruber (back), junior end Rahmel Gaston and senior linebacker Christo Hunsicker were selected on defense.

Gruber completed 147 of 228 passes for 2,018 yards with 24 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also rushed for 702 yards and 9 touchdowns on 173 carries.

As a defender, he was part of a stingy defense that allowed only 197 points in 13 games.

Akings rushed for 1,078 yards and 13 touchdowns on 183 carries.

Glover caught 40 passes for 670 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Wilson coach Doug Dahms was named coach of the year.

Reading High senior Gabriel Laws was named defensive player of the year and was joined on the first team defense by senior defender Xavier Beatty. Scarlet Knights senior tackle Keyshawn Efese was selected as the team’s starting scrimmage.
