Monthly wage registration for women to begin soon: Kejriwal

Months before Delhi goes to polls, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said registrations for providing monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 to women in the national capital will begin soon under ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’.

Talking about the scheme during AAP’s padayatra campaign in Burari in northeast Delhi, the former Chief Minister said the woman applicant must be a registered voter of the national capital.

In the FY 2024-25 budget presented in March, the AAP government announced the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’, which promises to provide Rs 1,000 per month to every eligible woman above 18 years of age, with an outlay of Rs 2,000 million.

“I am working for you… Rs 1,000 (per month) will be transferred to your accounts soon. The registration process for the program will start very soon,” Kejriwal told the women gathered for the padayatra.

“There is only one condition. The applicant must be a registered voter in Delhi. Those who are not will be helped by the local MLA,” he added. Attacking the BJP, the former Delhi chief minister said that the BJP has governments in 22 states but has not been able to provide free and uninterrupted electricity, good schools or quality healthcare to the people in any of these states.
