Campus journalists gathered for Copre 2024, press conference

CAMPUS journalists from across Western Visayas gathered at the Iloilo Grand Hotel for the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) University Press Conference and Awards (Copre) 2024 and the inaugural PIA at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City on November 28, 2024 High Schools Press Conference was held. .

Themed “Bagong Pilipinas: The New Breed of Developmental Communicators,” the event highlighted the critical role of young journalists in promoting truth, empowerment and transformative storytelling.

The day-long conference featured a variety of writing competitions, skills-based workshops, and recognition ceremonies to honor journalistic excellence among both high school and college students.

The event is expected to enhance participants’ developmental communication skills in line with the country’s vision of progress and empowerment.

This year’s conference featured a variety of competitions, workshops and recognition programs designed to celebrate and develop the skills of campus journalists.

Organizers said that the event included competitions in the branches of news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, column writing, editorial cartooning, text reading and photojournalism.

Participants showed off their creativity and reporting skills, and the winners were recognized at the evening’s awards ceremony.

The search for Mr. and Mrs. Copre 2024 was also highlighted, adding a unique element of camaraderie and celebration among the participants.

Copre, the longest-running conference for 48 years, is hosted by PIA for campus journalists in Western Visayas. (Leo Solinap)
