Russia hits cities across Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure

Russia has launched a massive missile and drone strike against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, officials said, as fears grow about Moscow’s intention to destroy the country’s electricity generation capacity before winter.

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko posted on Facebook: “Attacks on energy facilities are happening all over Ukraine.”

He added that emergency power cuts were implemented across the country.

Explosions were reported in Kiev, Kharkiv, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Lutsk and many other cities in central and western Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andrii Yermak, said in a post on Telegram that Russia is stockpiling missiles during the cold season to hit Ukrainian infrastructure and wage war against civilians.

“They were helped by their crazy allies, including North Korea,” he wrote.

An attack took place in the Northern Volyn region. District military chief Ivan Rudnytskyi said electricity supply was limited there.
