Muslim Religious Leaders Called on the Community to Perform Friday Prayers in Neighboring Mosques

Days after the violence in Sambhal, Muslim religious leaders and Mosque Imams appealed to people to pray in neighboring mosques and maintain peace.

Hazrat Maulana Aftab Hussain Warsi, Imam of Shahi Jama Masjid, appealed to people not to pay attention to rumors and urged people to maintain peace and harmony in the city.

Besides Hussain Warsi, Hazrat Maulana Qari Rashid Ali, Imam of Eidgah Sambhal, and Chaudhary Ashraf Ali Khan, former President of Shahi Jama Masjid Sambhal, also appealed to people to maintain peace ahead of Friday prayers.

The Sambhal administration has also raised alarm ahead of Friday prayers and Chapter 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita is present in the city.

After violence broke out during a court-ordered survey of a Mughal-era mosque on November 24, life in Sambhal is slowly returning to normal on Tuesday, with schools reopening and several shops selling daily essentials resuming operations.

However, internet services continue to be disrupted in Sambhal tehsil. Members of both Hindu and Muslim communities called for unity and vowed to rebuild communal harmony even as police and administrative authorities continue to closely monitor the situation with personnel deployed at key junctions and Rapid Action Force teams deployed in sensitive areas. Authorities have imposed restrictions on the entry of foreigners and public representatives into Sambhal until November 30.
