Attleboro elementary school teacher placed on leave after allegedly slapping 2 students – Boston News, Weather, Sports

ATTLEBORO, MASS. (WHDH) – An Attleboro elementary school teacher has been placed on administrative leave during an investigation into an incident in which he allegedly slapped two students, authorities said.

Attleboro Superintendent David Sawyer said in a statement Wednesday, “Late Tuesday afternoon, Thacher Elementary School administrators contacted Central Office staff regarding a disturbing incident that occurred at the school. Administrators reported that a physical altercation had occurred in the classroom between a teacher and two students, and that the teacher was He learned that he had allegedly slapped two students.

The district administration was immediately informed and an investigation was initiated in accordance with district procedures. “The district also notified the Attleboro Police Department and the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.”

The statement continued: “This is discouraging news as the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We take situations like this very seriously and are committed to cooperating with Attleboro Police as they conduct a thorough investigation.”
