Schools, colleges in Manipur to reopen after fresh violence

GUWAHATI: Educational institutions in Manipur will reopen on Friday after remaining closed for 13 days following fresh violence.

“From November 29 (Friday), normal classes will continue in all public schools (government, state-aided, private and central). “All Regional National Education Officers affiliated with the Directorate of National Education-Schools are tasked to inform all relevant parties within your jurisdiction and take necessary action accordingly.”

In another order issued by the department of higher and technical education, “All government educational institutions/government-aided colleges under the Department of Higher and Technical Education, including public universities, are ordered to resume classes from 29.11.2024 (Friday).”

The state’s Home Ministry has decided to reopen educational institutions after assessing the current law and order situation. The government had earlier ordered the closure of institutions in Imphal Valley and Jiribam district due to widespread protests against the killing of six people, including three women and three children, in Jiribam.
