Nine people charged following drugs raids in Newcastle

Nine people have been arrested on drug charges after heroin and spice were seized in a series of raids.

Eight of the nine men appeared in court in Newcastle on Wednesday charged with supplying or offering to supply Class A and B drugs.

It comes after Northumbria Police issued warrants to raid several properties on Tuesday.

Those accused are aged between 24 and 40, are from Felling in the city’s West End, Gateshead or have no fixed address.

Three of the seven men and two women charged will stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court in December, while four will be sentenced at a later date.

A woman was fined £6,914 and must attend rehabilitation for five days. Another man was given a £239 fine as well as a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

3 of the suspects who were referred to the courthouse were arrested, and 4 were referred to the courthouse.
