Left thigh: Real Madrid announces diagnosis

LIVERPOOL/MADRID. It wasn’t even two months ago and now it’s been left out again: Eduardo Camavinga Will Real Madrid be unavailable for now? Wednesday’s Champions League duel with Liverpool FC was even more painful, apart from the 0-2 defeat, as the French midfielder suffered a muscle injury in the back of his left thigh while running at Anfield in the 54th minute. Daniel Ceballos replaced him shortly afterwards.

An examination on Thursday confirmed the suspected diagnosis. Camavinga is expected to be out of action for 2-3 weeks. After Sunday’s minor derby against FC Getafe (16:15), he would also miss the duels against Athletic Club (4 December 21:00), FC Girona (7 December 21:00) and Atalanta (10 December 21:00) . If things go badly, the 22-year-old will have to watch the match against Rayo Vallecano on 14 December at 21.00 and possibly the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in Doha on 18 December.

For Camavinga, this was his second long-term absence this season. In mid-August, he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during final training before the first competitive match, the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta. For this reason, number 6 only started the season at the beginning of October.

Will Tchouaméni replace Camavinga?

At least: Against Getafe, the white ballet can bring back not only Rodrygo Goes (after a muscle injury in the back of his left thigh), but also Aurélien Tchouaméni (after a left ankle sprain). Therefore, he can step in instead of Camavinga in the central defensive midfield or assist in central defense in place of Raúl Asencio. Federico Valverde, Luka Modrić, Daniel Ceballos, Jude Bellingham and, depending on the system, Arda Güler work in Carlo Ancelotti’s control center.

If Rodrygo and Tchouaméni become fit to play again soon, Vinícius Júnior (muscle injury in the left thigh), David Alaba (rehabilitation training after cruciate ligament rupture), Daniel Carvajal (rehabilitation after complete knee injury) and Éder Militão (rehabilitation after cruciate ligament rupture) it would still be missing.
