APD: Suspect who opened fatal fire over a pool table in a tavern was arrested

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing someone following a confrontation over a pool table at a bar in northeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque police identified the suspect as Juan Tabo and Jeremy Saiz, 30, who worked at the Dragonhorn Tavern in Candelaria. According to police, officers responded to a report of a shooting there Tuesday around 9 p.m. When they arrived, they found 38-year-old James Silver dead with a gunshot wound near the front door.

Witnesses told police that Saiz followed Silver out the front door after a verbal argument. Later, Saiz allegedly fired a single shot and walked towards the tavern with the gun in his hand, while Silver stumbled back into the tavern and collapsed on the ground.

Saiz later surrendered, according to police. He now faces charges of murder, carrying a firearm in a licensed liquor establishment, negligent use of a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.
