Henry County woman charged in ‘murder-for-hire’ plot

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Henry County woman has been charged in what authorities described as a ‘murder for hire’ plot.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office charged 44-year-old Gennevieve McGhee with criminal solicitation for murder following an investigation that revealed her alleged involvement in planning a murder-for-hire.

On November 26, 2024, a confidential source contacted McGhee at 4399 Chestnut Knob Rd. They met at his home at . In Ridgeway.

The source, acting at the direction of law enforcement, used a recording device that captured audio and video evidence during their interactions, the sheriff’s office said.

During the exchange, McGhee allegedly discussed detailed plans regarding payment arrangements and gave instructions to carry out the robbery and murder.

Authorities said McGhee gave detailed instructions on how he wanted the crimes to be committed.

Investigators have not revealed who the apparent target of the conspiracy was.

McGhee was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.

The case is being investigated by the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
