All Zimbabwe opposition activists released under caution

HARE – All jailed Zimbabwean opposition activists have now been released. 30 people were acquitted earlier this month.

Now the remaining 35 people have been given suspended sentences and released. They were arrested on charges of illegal assembly and have been in prison for the last 5 months.

The statement increases speculation that the arrests were made to suppress opposition protests ahead of SADC meetings in the country.
