Gujarat Serial Killer Raped Minor, Killed Girl in Surat, Returned to Commit ‘Necrophilia’

A 30-year-old man was arrested for raping and murdering a 19-year-old college girl near Udvada railway station in Surat, Gujarat. The accused, identified as Rahul alias Bholu Karmvir Ishwar Jat, reportedly raped the minor several times. It was alleged that after strangling her, he also had sexual intercourse with her corpse.

According to police, Jat allegedly killed four more people since October, then raped and strangled the girl on November 14, before performing necrophilia with her corpse. He left the scene and visited Udvada railway station, where he ate fruit salad and found a bottle of water, Times of India reported.

The person returned to the scene after a while and had sexual intercourse with the girl’s body. He also spent some time there and hid behind some bushes when the girl’s friends and family reached the area looking for her. “He returned to the scene to have sexual intercourse with the body again. Police are trying to collect evidence to detect this terrible crime,” a police officer said.

After committing the crime, the defendant initially left the scene but left his luggage behind, planning to return. He later returned and dabbled in necrophilia. However, as more people began to move in the area, he was forced to flee again, leaving his belongings behind.

CCTV Footage Plays a Vital Role in Solving the Case

The trunk became a key clue in the investigation. Police matched the clothes and bag with CCTV footage from nearby railway stations and detected a match at Vapi railway station. These images and videos were instrumental in solving the case after a staff member from Lajpore Central Jail in Surat recognized the accused.

During the crime reconstruction Tuesday, the suspect detailed his movements and escape. The reorganization panchnama is likely to serve as critical evidence in the case.

The college student was returning home from class and decided to go to the footpath next to the railway line near Udvada railway station around 2.30pm on November 14. She was on the phone when the accused strangled her to silence her screams, dragged her to the mango garden and attacked her.

The accused also admitted his involvement in four other murders on trains, including incidents in Mangalore, Howrah, Secunderabad and on the train route between Pune and Kanyakumari. These murders went unnoticed until the Valsad police caught him.
