Friday’s papers: School violence spills into community, jobs at HUS and weekend weather | Yle News

Local teenagers in Helsinki are not only terrorizing their school, but also mistreating staff at a nearby library.

Helsingin Sanomat follows out-of-control students at a comprehensive school in Helsinki.

Earlier this week the newspaper reported that teachers at Pukinmäenkaari school in Helsinki scared Coming to work because a group of teenage boys are terrorizing the school. Recent incidents included children smashing a teacher’s car using stones.

The school’s teachers told HS that the principal’s approach was intrusive and advised staff to call the police to deal with mischievous teenagers.

HS says the school now has a neighborhood too suffering Troublemakers, including the local library nearby.

“They carry knives and knives. We are verbally abused with threats like ‘Damn, I’ll kill you, my father and brothers will come and rape you,'” said a library employee.

According to the employee, a group of 20 young people can enter the library at the same time and they must be allowed in by law.

The librarian said that in the fall, staff reported to police that they were receiving death threats.

“We are worried that something might happen to a child or an elderly person here.”

Iltalehti Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) examines who lost their jobs cuts 280 positions with the hope of saving 50 million euros after the conclusion of restructuring talks.

IL spoke Karl KinnunenA 45-year-old healthcare logistician was laid off after 15 years working in the hospital district. Kinnunen said he is concerned that surgery preparation duties will now fall to nurses. Their responsibilities include storing artificial joints and their components used in knee and hip surgeries and delivering them to operating rooms.

“We were told that if your position was eliminated it would be because of the work stoppage,” he explained.

Finland’s mixed weather

The Arctic Ocean feeds cold air into northern Lapland, while the North Sea pushes temperate air into southern Finland.

This weekend, there will be mild weather in the southern parts of the country, while Lapland will experience relatively cold weather. A weather front will form between the cold northern air and the milder southern air, bringing a mix of snow and rain.

Daytime highs this weekend will reach around +10 degrees Celsius in the south, while temperatures will reach around -10 degrees Celsius in the north.
