9 people injured in crash that shut down Commodore Barry

Thanksgiving drivers heading home from New Jersey encountered backups The Commodore Barry Bridge between Chester and Bridgeton, New Jersey, is closed after two crashes Thursday night.

Delaware River Port Authority Public Information Officer Mike Williams said the first crash involved two vehicles crashing eastbound and catching fire.

An injured young child and two operators were taken to hospital. All of them were in stable condition.

After the accident, there was a second collision involving two vehicles. Six patients were transported due to back and neck injuries.

Crashes closed the bridge in both directions while first responders treated victims and extinguished the vehicle fire.

Traffic was reopened in both directions at 20:04.
