Man arrested after weekend stabbing, police say

CHAPIN, SC (WOLO)– A man has been arrested. Chapin Police following a stabbing over the weekend, the police department said.

Investigators say Jacob Adam Riddle was arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred at 103 Beaufort Street in Chapin Township.

Chapin Police Officers arrested Riddle at his home in Newberry County for attempted murder and he was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.

Police teams responded to the parking lot of Tipsy Toad Tavern 103 due to a stabbing incident reported at around 02:00 on Sunday, October 27.

Chapin Police said evidence collected at the scene, as well as statements from several witnesses, identified Riddle as the stabbing victim.

Riddle is accused of stabbing the victim in the back, which led to another person trying to save Riddle from the victim.

Investigators stated that the man was also cut with a knife during the fight. After leaving the victim, Riddle left the scene in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to Lexington Medical Center for emergency medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the attack.

The Chapin Police Department, with assistance from the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department, took Riddle into custody at his home in Little Mountain.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault and 2nd degree battery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
