Kettering woman goes to jail and loses driver’s license in 2023 crash that killed Moraine woman

Oct. 28 – A Kettering woman will serve 30 days in jail on consecutive weekends, starting Friday, for a crash that killed a Moraine woman in July 2023.

Ashlynn Marie Perkins, 32, was arraigned Thursday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge E. Gerald Parker Jr., according to sentencing documents filed Friday. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, 150 of which were suspended, and will lose his driver’s license for 15 years. He pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on Sept. 26.

The victim of the crash was identified as 55-year-old Tammy Sue Richardson, who was traveling westbound on Main Street just after 1 a.m. on July 1, 2023, when her 2016 Toyota Scion IM was struck by a 2023 Hyundai Tucson driven by north Perkins. on Dryden Road, according to a crash report filed by the Moraine Police Department.

Surveillance footage from businesses surrounding the intersection of Main Street and Dryden Road revealed that Perkins was at a red light but did not stop, the report said.

Richardson was pronounced dead at Kettering Health Main Campus. She is survived by her husband, two children and a grandchild, according to her obituary.

Perkins and his passenger, 24, of Washington Twp. The slightly injured woman was treated at the scene by Moraine Fire Brigade teams.

Perkins will serve the 30-day sentence on consecutive weekends from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday. He was also sentenced to up to five years of probation and must pay approximately $5,000 in restitution, according to court documents.

As part of his plea, a misdemeanor charge of vehicular homicide was dismissed.
