Penn State head coach James Franklin believes quarterback Drew Allar could be a game-time decision for Saturday’s game against Ohio State.

Franklin told reporters Monday that he believes in Allar. left knee injuryHe’s experienced enough that he doesn’t need to rush into practice to get reps on the field. He can rest if necessary and be ready for Saturday.

Allar headed to the locker room shortly before halftime in the second quarter. Although he tried to warm up before the third quarter, he could not make a comeback against Wisconsin.

“Is he going to be mobile enough to give us a chance to run the offense the way we need to? And that’s really come down to Drew,” Franklin in question after the game. “I asked him to be very, very honest with me. And we didn’t think he could move well enough to go. Even throwing the ball at the end of the half was challenging.”

Allar thrived under first-year offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki. His 234.3 passing yards per game, 174.6 quarterback rating and 71.3 percent completion rate were a noticeable increase from 2023.

That’s what Nittany Lions fans expect from a player. 5 star recruitment is leaving high school.

Missing Allar could be a huge potential blow for the Penn State offense.

Backup quarterback Beau Pribula pitched well in relief against Wisconsin. He completed 11-of-13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

But it goes without saying that Ohio State will pose a tougher test for a player, having seen the field with 44 career passing attempts as a sophomore.

Since Mobile Pribula is a different style of QB compared to Allar, Franklin can use this to his advantage. The Buckeyes coaching staff will need to make some adjustments to the defensive game plan to account for the threat Pribula will pose in a high-usage role.
