Manhunt suspect detained in Leeds

UPDATE:

The suspect in connection with the Leeds Manhunt has been identified as 33-year-old Colton McCoy Tubbs.

He is charged with Attempting to Evade Law Enforcement (Felony), Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, Certain Persons Are Prohibited from Possessing Firearms, Drug Trafficking, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, and Attempting to Evade Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor). ). The incident began Thursday night, October 24, when the Leeds Police Department was alerted to a stolen vehicle in the 8500 Block of Whitfield Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they observed Tubbs getting into the driver’s seat of the stolen vehicle, and when confronted, Tubbs fled.

During the chase, Leeds Police said Tubbs collided with planted brush and several utility buildings in the Lowe’s Parking Lot at 8900 Weaver Street.

He continued driving through the parking lot, crashed into the security gate with his vehicle, and proceeded towards the back of the building.

Tubbs then attempted to access Orbis JCB when his car collided with a fence and came to a stop.

Tubbs then exited the car and fled the scene on foot and was later located Friday morning, Oct. 25, when a citizen reported him in the 8500 Block of Whitfield Avenue.
