Southbound IH 69, HWY 77 closed due to 18-wheeler crash

An 18-wheeler truck carrying lumber overturned on southbound Highway 77 on IH 69, causing the road closure.

Luckily, the truck driver got out of the truck with minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The closure between Calallen and County Road 48 is expected to last until at least 8 p.m., according to a Nueces County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post

While there is no explanation yet as to what caused the accident, eyewitnesses told the police that the truck went off the road before overturning.

The Robstown Police Department and DPS are also currently on scene working to clear the crash.
