Faridkot senior superintendent of police Pragya Jain said that they have received new clues about the whereabouts of the attackers and they will be arrested soon.

Police are yet to question jailed MP Khadoor Sahib Amritpal Singh, accused of the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, who was killed on October 9, despite Gurpreet claiming that he was killed on his orders. Although three weeks have passed since the crime, the police have not yet tracked down the criminals.

Gurpreet, a member of the Waris Punjab De organisation, was shot dead by four assailants on bikes while returning from the gurdwara.

On October 18, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav had alleged that Gurpreet was killed on Amritpal’s orders. Police also claimed that terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla was also revealed as the mastermind.

A four-member SIT led by Faridkot SP (investigation) Jasmeet Singh is probing the murder case. Bilaal Ahmed, Guramardeep Singh and Arshdeep Singh, three members of the Arsh Dalla gang who carried out the reconnaissance, were arrested and interrogated. They were sent to the courthouse on Saturday. The SIT could not identify the attackers despite questioning them.

Faridkot senior superintendent of police Pragya Jain said police had new leads on the whereabouts of the attackers and they would be arrested soon. “We will question Amritpal soon,” he added.

Amritpal is being held in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
