Family remembers Utah teen killed in dirt bike crash

SANPETE COUNTY, Utah – Brinley Bailey proudly rode her turquoise snowmobile with anger in her eyes and a smile on her face. This is one of the things his loved ones will miss most about him.

“He was the light of our lives,” said his father, Keith Bailey.

around 1 p.m. Saturday, before the 16-year-old boy got on his dirt bike. He fell down a steep embankment and died as a result of the fall in the White Hills area near Gunnison.According to the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office.

Brinley, a junior at North Sanpete High School, had a huge impact on everyone around him. On Monday, her teachers, friends and family wore her favorite color, blue.

A series of signs reading “We love you, Brinley” were hung on the front door of his family’s home.

Yearbook teacher Laine Cook said he was a special person.

“His personality was extremely different from the other students I taught because he was always super kind,” Cook said. “He always had a smile on his face.”

Brinley, the oldest of four daughters, was a loving big sister. His parents, Keith and Jennifer Bailey, said he had an unforgettable spirit.

“She was a great big sister, a great daughter; she taught us a lot,” her father said. “He was always happy and had an infectious smile and a light that radiated from him.”

Brinley loved his family, God, and snowmobile racing. His father said he and his family traveled around the country and raced together.

Brinley was usually quiet, but that changed quickly when someone turned on their snowmobiles.

“All you had to do was ask him about it and he would keep talking,” his father said while laughing.

Whenever he set his mind to something, he went after it.

“He was a list maker,” his mother, Jennifer Bailey, said with a smile. “He would follow that list and check them all off.”

Brinley and her younger sister, Breanne, were inseparable. Breanne said she didn’t know what she would do without her older sister.

“He touched so many people,” Breanne said. “I know why this happened. He deserves to go to heaven more than anyone I know.”

The Bailey family said they got through this difficult period with the faith and support of their family and friends.

“Our faith in Jesus Christ and the power of the prayers of those in our community, family and friends,” he said. “That’s what keeps us going.”
