Kolkata Police launches investigation into ‘hacking’ of live broadcast of Calcutta High Court hearing

Kolkata Police has launched an investigation into an alleged live broadcast on the holiday bench of one of the courtrooms of the Calcutta High Court on YouTube, a police officer said on Tuesday.

He said the cyber crime branch of the Kolkata Police initiated the investigation after the IT department of the Kolkata High Court filed a complaint in this regard late on Monday evening.

“An investigation is on. We will check what happened and try to identify the miscreants behind this,” the police officer told PTI.

An obscene video was “livestreamed” for about a minute before it was stopped, the official claimed during his hearing in Judge Subhasish Samanta’s courtroom 7 on Monday.

The high court’s IT department launched an investigation into the matter before approaching the Kolkata Police.
