Two Greytown rapists sentenced to life in separate trials – LNN

On Friday, the Greytown District Court in KZN convicted two men of rape.

A man convicted of raping his then-10-year-old half-sister four times in October 2022 was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The 28-year-old man, whose name could not be determined to protect the victim, was going to rape his stepsister when she returned from school. She eventually reported the attacks to her mother, who called the police.

The case was investigated by detective Sergeant Richard Gilder of Greytown’s Domestic Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit.

The court also ruled that he was unfit to possess a firearm.

In a separate case heard on the same day, Siphesihle Seniba (28) was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and 5 years in prison for kidnapping.

Seniba forced the 18-year-old woman into his home, attacking her while she was walking with her sister on Bell Street in September 2023. He kept her at his house one night and raped her.

This case was also successfully investigated by Gilder.

Umzinyathi District commissioner Major General Francis Slambert congratulated the great work done by the investigating officer and all those involved in solving these cases.
