Eddie Howe warns him to think twice before taking Manchester United job – John Barnes

Manchester United are now looking for a new manager and John Barnes is talking about the possibility of Eddie Howe taking the job at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag, who was bizarrely allowed to spend hundreds of millions more this summer, was dismissed on Monday, but the consequences are only getting worse.

John Barnes warns Eddie Howe to think twice before taking the Manchester United job if/when it’s offered.

Dan Ashworth of course worked with Eddie Howe at Newcastle United, so there is that connection.

But even if he were offered the job, why would Eddie Howe swap St James’ Park for Old Trafford? The club is becoming an even bigger mess under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

John Barnes asked Lucky Block’s question about the Manchester United job and Eddie Howe:

It looks like Manchester United are keeping tabs on Eddie Howe. If they had come for him, would it have been too tempting a business opportunity to turn down?’

‘Manchester United is a bigger club than Newcastle United but if he goes there would things be better for him than they were at Newcastle United? At least the Newcastle United players will play for him and I’m not sure you can safely say that will be the case at Old Trafford.

Will he turn down Man U if they call? I think if Eddie had joined them he would have jumped out of the pan and into the fire. That doesn’t mean he won’t do it, because the Man U job is one that should appeal to any ambitious manager, but it’s clear there are a lot of problems at the club at the moment.’

‘There are rumors of unrest between Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell. Is this starting to have an impact on results on the pitch?’

I’m not close enough to Newcastle United to know whether the relationship between Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell affected the results.

However, I have a lot of empathy for Eddie Howe because when Eddie went there most people expected him to be caretaker until Newcastle signed the best manager in the world and spent hundreds of millions of pounds on new players. Saudis.

This was what everyone expected, but it didn’t quite happen. Eddie was much more than a guard and he was truly successful. It’s still there now.

If you look at the way football is going and the people who are interested in football, I suspect Newcastle are still looking for a big name and they may think, unfairly and unfairly, that Eddie Howe is not the right man, I think so. Eddie isn’t a sexy name, so I expect the problems between him and the hierarchy to continue while he’s in this job.

I think there will always be a situation at Newcastle United where the club’s ambitions are unrealistic, especially when it doesn’t matter who you own, you still have financial constraints.

‘I also think players will always prefer to go to Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal rather than Newcastle United.’
