My Five to Watch Ahead of the 2024/25 Jumps Season

My Five to Watch Ahead of the 2024/25 Jumps Season

Leading jockey Henry Brooke nominates a Rules non-runner and a mare who can make hay in the north of England.

IROKO (Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero)

I’ll start with the fixed star Iroko. I can say that he will target the National this year and will be a horse you can follow for the National. He looks like a typical National horse; He jumps well, he travels well, and it looks like all systems might go for him. He looks like that kind of horse, doesn’t over race in his races and could be a really nice horse for future connections.

LUNE DE LA MER (Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero)

He won the novice hurdle at Aintree two years ago but touched a leg and suffered a setback. He returned to the garden, now looking bigger and stronger than ever. I don’t know if the kids will follow him anymore, but he really felt that he was a beautiful horse; He was very raw in the first race, he took a good look around and felt like he had a lot left in him, and I don’t think it will do him any harm after a year.

ACTOR MAN (Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero)

He earned two bumpers last season and has been on the move all year. He probably had great success in the last meeting at Carlisle and won that really well. He has a really good page and is a great jumper and could be a really good rookie this time around; I think you can run this week (1.20 Bangor was announced today) so pay attention to it.

WENDYWILLDO (Danny Brooke)

He won a bumper at Sedgefield and settled into a good bumper at Catterick. He’s going to do a novice hurdle race for my brother. He is jumping really well and will definitely win a minor first in the north of England and will be placed accordingly for the rest of the season. He’s had good form in the bumpers, there have been plenty of winners from his race and he’s clearly shown his form and could generate some interest up north.

TREE TOP TYSON (Patrick Neville)

Ireland are running on the points and doing really well at home. He could be a horse who won bumpers on his debut and then moved on to novice steeplechase, and he’s a really good breed.
