(Society)Employees who got adrenal cancer while working in a semiconductor factory confessed to their work accident

A worker who contracted adrenal cancer while working in a semiconductor factory was accepted to have a work accident after a lawsuit was filed.

Human rights group ‘Guardian of the Health and Human Rights of Semiconductor Workers’ said that 42-year-old former SK Hynix employee A recently won a lawsuit against the Korean Labor Welfare Agency to annul the disapproval of medical care benefits.

The court explained that even if the dozens of harmful substances committed by A did not exceed the exposure risk criteria, it cannot be ignored that they may have affected the epidemic by synergizing with each other.

He later said that since there was no genetic mutation or family history that could cause A, it was difficult to deny a causal relationship between harmful substances exposed at work and adrenal cancer.

A, who has been working at SK Hynix’s Cheongju factory since 2000, was diagnosed with adrenal cancer in 2020 and applied to the public institution for medical care benefits in July 2021, but when he was not accepted, a lawsuit was filed. Causality between work and disease has not been proven.
