Vermilion husband charged in connection with wife’s suicide

VERMILION, Ohio (WOIO) – A Vermilion husband has been indicted on several charges in connection with the suicide of his 81-year-old wife.

According to Vermilion Police Chief Chris Hartung, officers responded to the home of Michael and Maria Krupienski on Sept. 29 for a report of a suicide.

When they arrived, officers found Maria dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Chief Hartung said Maria expressed suicidal thoughts while under the influence of alcohol and Michael gave her a loaded gun.

Michael Krupienski, 71, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a weapon while impaired.

He is being held without bail in the Erie County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 26.

The judge also ordered him to have no contact with any of his family members.
