Tram in Oslo city center derails and crashes into shop, 4 injured

A tram derailed and crashed into a phone and computer shop in Oslo city center on Tuesday, Norwegian police said, but only four people suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The commuter train had about 20 people on board when it derailed at the junction of Storgata, one of the main streets of the Norwegian capital and close to Oslo’s main train station.

Witness Mohnsin Munir told Norwegian media that he saw the tram coming at high speed. He was supposed to make a left turn, but he derailed and continued towards the store.

Police said the tram driver was considered a suspect in the case. The driver was not identified.
