Liam Payne died at the age of 31 after falling from a three-storey balcony in Argentina a few weeks ago, and since then fans have been reflecting on the devastating role fame played in his life.

Payne was just 17 when he and his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson rose to international fame.

“One Direction, one of the greatest boy bands in history, has released five studio albums and 17 hit singles and embarked on four world tours, traveling with a portable recording studio so they could put together one album while promoting another,” said Jennifer Weiner. New York Times reported.

Wherever the band went, fans flocked to them, sometimes trapping kids in hotel rooms to escape the crazed fans.

Since the age of 17, every aspect of Payne’s life has been thrust into the spotlight, and it has taken a heavy toll.

“The effects (of fame) can be particularly destabilizing when the star in question is still just a child. And often the people who should be keeping an eye on these valuable, sensitive amounts are making money instead,” Weiner in question.

In 2019, Payne admitted that fame made him feel trapped.

“There’s no stop button,” he said said Jessie and Lennie Ware on the Table Manners Podcast. Weiner said the singer struggled with addiction and maintaining relationships.

“You have no control over your life,” he added, noting that he is a child star. “So I completely lost control of everything.”

Fellow child star Miley Cyrus expressed similar sentiments to TODAY.com.

“There are so many things I don’t remember about being a children’s entertainer, so many things I had to keep in my brain,” he said. in question. “It’s like anything when you’re in it. Until this year, I didn’t realize how much pressure I was under and how it shaped me.

“People were very surprised by some of the things I did,” he added. “It must have been even more shocking to have my hair and make-up done, a wig on and told what to wear by a group of mostly older men when I was 11 or 12.”

To protect future child stars, several of Payne’s famous friends have challenged the music industry to implement safety measures to protect young artists.

Irish singer Mikey Graham wrote On page X “Rip Liam Payne. What tragic news. I think it would be a wise move for record companies to include psychologists in his memory in their books from now on, as it is their duty to take into account the sensitivity of young talents. Fame can be very harmful, especially in today’s world. A lot of money. There is no one to help. Lots of yes people. “Nobody is honest.”

Freelance music consultant Linda Byrne added“The music industry needs to start protecting its stars and the rising stars of the future, too. Drug addiction and alcohol use are endemic. Imagine if we had greater access to mental health support services in this industry?! Lives that will not be lost and much needed healing, especially for the men of this world, will be a complete game changer.”

While it is inevitable for children to play a role in the entertainment industry, practices should be implemented to protect their mental and emotional health.
