They said that the platform titled ‘E-Shakti’ was developed by Tejas Dahiya, a Class 12 student, and will soon be released in mobile application format.

District Magistrate Monika Rani said, “E-Shakti will enable 50,000 women in our district to engage in digital business.”

“This platform connects rural communities to major markets, allowing artisans, farmers and small-scale producers to showcase their products, equipping them with digital skills and promoting self-reliance,” he said.

He said that unlike major online platforms, this app and website will allow unbranded products to be sold.

“We have many artisans who make products using wheat straw, banana tree fibres, biofertilizers, etc. But they are in the early stages of their entrepreneurial efforts and need support to showcase their products to a wider customer base.” DM told PTI.

“The sellers on the platform will be SHGs who will be registered by us and only after that will provide credentials to log into the system for the sale of their products,” he said.

DM stated that the concept of this platform was put forward by the Bahraini administration, adding that the mobile application is expected to be launched after Diwali while the website is ready.

“The website also needs some improvements and that will be done eventually,” he said.

The platform, created in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre, is aligned with initiatives such as the National Urban Livelihood Mission, National Rural Livelihood Mission and One District One Product.

“We see this as an opportunity for women in remote areas to earn income and grow their businesses without the need for significant capital or infrastructure,” Rani said. he added.

Deepak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, National Rural Health Mission, said that the proposed application has come to the district through the National Information System.

There are 20,197 women self-help groups here and more than two lakh women are associated with them, Singh said.

“The platform will facilitate the sale of NRLM, NULM and ODOP products and will instantly benefit over 50,000 women,” he added.

Initially starting with a cash on delivery option to ensure transaction security, E-Shakti will later integrate online payment features as the platform scales.
