UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones took a step towards solving his legal problems.

Per Nolan King From MMA Junkie A New Mexico judge ruled that the misdemeanor assault charge would be dismissed if Jones completed four hours of anger management and complied with the law for 90 days as part of the plea agreement.

Following the decision, Jones expressed his gratitude on social media that the situation would be resolved in time for his highly anticipated return to the Octagon when he will defend his title against former champion Stipe in the main event of UFC 309 on November 16. Myosic:

bony @JonnyBones

I would like to express my gratitude to the justice system for reaching a speedy resolution of this matter, which confirmed my innocence and allowed me to focus on the upcoming fight. I look forward to the opportunity to defend my heavyweight title on November 16th…

There was Jones facing a misdemeanor charge of interference with communications and a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a drug test at his home in New Mexico, where testers accused him of being hostile.

Jones denied the allegations when they were first made public earlier this year.

“I was recently visited by testers while celebrating my birthday and taking a nap,” he said. wrote in a social media post. “When I woke up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessional attitude and protocol of one of the testers, which led to me feeling frustrated and using some expletives that I regret.

“However, I would like to emphasize that I have never threatened, confronted anyone, raised my voice or attacked anyone in any way. It is unfortunate that false news spreads without being properly checked. I can assure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these false accusations. “The incident definitely did not happen.”

Jones hasn’t fought to win the vacant heavyweight title since defeating Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023. He suffered a torn labrum during training, and in his absence the UFC crowned interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.

If Jones is successful against Miocic, many are wondering if he will retire or face Aspinall in a title fight.
