CDPO who refused permission to pregnant woman was dismissed

Bhubaneswar: Snehalata Sahoo, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) at Derabish block in Kendrapara district, was suspended for allegedly denying leave to a 7-month pregnant female employee in the office. The woman later lost her baby due to the unborn child dying in the womb.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said action was taken against Sahoo to ensure an impartial investigation into the matter.

Acting CM said the District Collector has been instructed to conduct an investigation and submit a report on what action to take against Sahoo.

The incident took place on October 25 at the home of 26-year-old Barsha Priyadarshini, who works in the Women and Child Development Department office. Derabish block, experienced Intense labor pain during working hours. Even though he requested sahoo and although other colleagues took him to hospital, he was allegedly ignored.

Upon being informed, Barsha’s family members came to his clinic and took him to a private hospital. Here, doctors performed an ultrasound and confirmed that her baby had died in the womb.

Barsha lodged a formal complaint with the Kendrapara district collector, calling for strict action against the situation. sahooHe holds her responsible for the loss he suffered due to alleged negligence.
