Accused Thief Jumped From Roof, Tried to Escape Ca by Hiding in Porta-Potty. Police

A makeshift hiding spot in a porta potty failed to save an accused thief from arrest, California police reported.

The police intervened in the theft and made a report in a storage facility Around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, they saw a 47-year-old man jump from one of the rooftops, Campbell police said in a news release.

Despite being ordered to stop, the man fled and officers found three backpacks containing knives and burglary tools on the roof, police said. Part of the roof had been cut open.

Police said deputies and officers took security precautions in the area and searched for the man.

Officers found the man hiding in a nearby portable toilet and he was arrested without incident, police said.

Police said he faces charges including burglary, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools and possession of pepper spray, a stun gun and a concealed dagger/dagger.

Campbell is about 50 miles southeast of San Francisco.
