Vice President Kamala Harris continues to distance herself President Joe Biden’s “garbage” comment It was captured by Republicans in the final days of the 2024 campaign.

Biden caused a stir Tuesday night after calling Trump supporters “trash” while attending the Voto Latino campaign call.

Republicans attacked the comments as an insult to the half of the country’s voters who supported the former president.

Biden and the White House argued that he was referring to racist remarks. Speakers at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sundayincluding comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s comment calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

The White House released a transcript of Biden’s remarks, with a possessive apostrophe added over the word “supporters.”

“Well, let me tell you something. I – I – I don’t know Puerto Ricans – as I know them – or Puerto Ricans back home – home in the state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people. Biden also made a statement in his own statement.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also did damage control as she was peppered with questions at a news conference about Wednesday’s comment.

“No, he doesn’t see Trump supporters or anyone who supports Trump as trash,” Jean-Pierre said.
