Mother of rally driver Maxine Wahome testified in court

Beverly Wahome, mother of Safari Rally driver Maxine Wahome, took the stand Wednesday in the ongoing trial of her daughter accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend Asad Khan.

Maxine was arrested on December 12, 2022, at an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi, for allegedly assaulting and causing serious injuries to her boyfriend, Asad Khan, who later succumbed to injuries at a city hospital.

During her testimony, Beverly described a harrowing video call she had with her daughter, who urgently called for help the night of the incident.

Questioned by Prosecuting Solicitor Roselyne Tum, Wahome’s mother described how she witnessed the chaotic scene unfold in real time, including seeing Khan bleeding as her daughter called the police and called for her rescue.

“Maxine’s mother told the court that during the chief examination by Prosecuting Counsel Ms Roselyne Tum, she was able to witness in real time what was happening at her daughter’s location, including Asad Khan bleeding.” In the statement made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, X.

Hearings in the case are scheduled to resume on January 20, 2025, with additional hearings scheduled for January 21, 22, and 23 as both sides prepare to present their arguments.

Previous witnesses testified that Maxine and the deceased often disagreed and occasionally fought.
